This course is different from most foundation classes. Rather than focusing on obstacles or traditional flatwork, this class teaches the critical foundation skills (the “glue”) that will help your dog succeed as a learner in agility classes, seminars, and high-energy training environments.

This course brings together the best of therapy dog preparation and Canine Good Citizen training, creating a strong foundation for both ends of the leash. Whether your long-term goal is to become a registered therapy dog team, to earn your CGC certificate, or simply to have a calm, reliable companion at home and in the community, this class will set you up for success.

There are so many reasons why training tricks are beneficial to your dog, yourself and your relationship, tricks aren’t just for entertainment or rainy days anymore! Teaching tricks not only help our dogs learn how to learn but also teaches us how they learn as well. Tricks can be used to teach concepts that appear in competition behaviors allowing us to teach those final behaviors more efficiently and with fewer mistakes. Plus, they allow us to mentally and physically exercise our dogs along with teaching them body awareness and control.

It is my passion to help humans and dogs develop stronger relationships based on games, shared adventures and maximizing our dogs' freedom while keeping them safe.

This is a class about preparing our dogs for the competition or seminar environment. Over and over I see dogs that are unprepared or rehearsing behavior we don't want at seminars, classes and trials. Over time this leads to more stress from both handler and dog and I want to help out with that!

Do you have a dog that chases the ball, yet won’t bring it back? Plays keep away with toys? Tugs but won’t let go? Bites you instead of the tug? Obsesses over toys, yet won’t listen to a single thing you say? Is your dog so high in drive for toys that they can’t think? Or do you just want to channel that prey drive right from the beginning and add the attitude your dog has for tugging or chasing toys to the obedience or agility ring?

Heeling requires significant concentration and sustained focus to maintain position, focal point and engagement. Heeling is easily the most difficult obedience exercise. When trained properly, it is a beautiful dance between dog and handler that is a joy to watch.

Build Beautiful Heeling Without the Stress

This class will cover all of the pieces needed to train a reliable obedience retrieve. We will begin by teaching each piece of the behavior chain including the hold and front position. Then we will work to put the pieces together to produce a reliable retrieve. The instructor feedback will be catered to help your dog earn top points on their retrieve exercise regardless of their obedience venue.
