Tracey (she/her) has been involved in dog training for over 20 years since she got her first dog, a bullmastiff named Calgacus. In the past, Tracey combined dog training with working in IT as an analyst and developer. She has competed in heelwork to music and scent work. She has an undergraduate degree in Canine Behaviour and Training and is the author of the book Canine Aggression: Rehabilitating an aggressive dog with kindness and compassion.
Tracey has also been active in dog rescue, volunteering for several rescue charities and volunteering as a guest sp eaker in a prison dog program.More recently, Tracey has become passionate about working with prey drive in dogs. Tracey has lived and worked through issues of catching, killing, and eating prey animals through to running off, following prey scent, and being gone for hours. When studying for her Master’s degree in Applied Animal Behaviour and Training, Tracey focused on prey drive and has had her degree research in the subject published in the journal Applied Animal Behaviour Science.Tracey now combines her loves of IT, data analysis, coaching people and dog training. She works full time running an online business that focuses on helping people and dogs who have a high prey drive live joyfully together.

This class is for the dogs who just cannot ignore the scent, sight and/or sound of prey animals or birds, making walks with them difficult to enjoy. Prey drive is one of the fundamental parts of making dogs who they are. In modern dog breeds, selective breeding of dogs for different roles has aimed to create specialist dogs who can perform vital roles for people. Much of the breeding focus is on increasing some elements of prey drive and reducing others.

Start by clicking on the Course Schedule link at the top of this page. If registration is open, select the course you wish to take from the list and click on that link. From that page, click on the registration link and choose the enrollment level you are interested in. This webpage describes the steps in more detail.
Registration opens on the 22nd of the month preceding the course start date (ie March 22 for courses beginning April 1st) and close on the 15th day of the month the session has started (ie April 15 for courses starting April 1st). You cannot register for 6 week courses outside of this period.
Scholarships are offered to students who do not feel they can afford the full tuition, but who have a sincere interest in expanding their skills as a dog sport trainer. Scholarships are offered in the form of a 50% tuition credit at the Bronze level. To apply, select the Scholarships link from the top menu (under new students) or click this link. We ask that if you are on a scholarship, you limit yourself to one class. There are a maximum of three scholarships per student permitted in a calendar year.
